Jonathan William Smith is the ideal man. Self made, very successful, supportive family. Rags to riches man in his 40s. Everyone loves Jon Smith. The picture perfect postcard of the American Dream.
The power of the family legacy stretches from financial success in technology, manufacturing and medicine, but also in charity, research, transportation, and the media. They owned a little bit of everything and were altruistic in their mission to improve life for everyone on the planet. No corporation on earth can claim they didn’t benefit from the success of Jon Smith.
After the solar flare, Jon encountered one of the most intimidating of villains effected had an insightful moment that made him reconsider all of his success and wealth. A mastermind of seemingly unlimited resources. Always seemed one step ahead of any of the Novas efforts. A real mystery of a man. The very few that have encountered him face to face and lived, describe him as impervious to harm, stronger than anything realistic by modern description. This villian is known as Paragon.
Paragon preaches a message of a New World Order, however the ultimate message is interpreted to various extremities by his followers.
His motivations seem to be chaotic in nature and sometimes contradictory to his own history. One day he is assisting heroes and the next he is stopping them. Despite Paragon’s physically intimidating presence, he prefers to manipulate events from the shadows. No one knows Paragon’s true identity – even those who swear loyalty to him.

Paragon IS Jonathan Smith.
The imprint from the Nova Event had a criminal mastermind version of Jonathan Smith. After the solar flare on the good guy Jon’s earth, the biggest motivator and ruler of the criminal underworld was Imprinted on his soul. Calling himself Paragon, he works as a fragmented personality to manipulate his slowly growing underworld of criminal activity. The only adversary Paragon cannot defeat is Jonathan Smith.
Even Jon Smith is unaware of this duality. It is even thought that Paragon’s abilities may include the ability to project his form mentally, or to time shift, explaining how he can appear or disappear without notice.
